A flight from Bangkok to Taiwan had an unexpected twist when a rat and an otter, smuggled aboard by a passenger, escaped into the main cabin during the flight.
One passenger recounted: “I was confused, so he said again, ‘pet rat, pet rat, it has a white body and it’s not small.'”
The incident occurred on a Wednesday flight operated by VietJet Air, a low-cost airline.
The situation caused panic among passengers and flight attendants when they noticed an albino rat and a nearly 1-foot-long otter moving around on the cabin floor.
Upon landing in Taipei, the authorities conducted a search of the aircraft and discovered a box containing 28 live turtles, a snake, one marmot, two otters, and two other rodents of unknown species among the luggage.
