Israel's defence minister has promised a ground invasion of Gaza, telling troops they should prepare to see the territory "from the inside".

Ground troops were told to "get organised" in a recent meeting with Israeli infantry soldiers and defence ministry head Yoav Gallant. He said: "Whoever sees Gaza from afar now will see it from the inside. I promise you."

The planned invasion of Gaza comes as a top Hamas terror group chief was killed in an airstrike launched by Israel. Jehad Mheisen, commander of the National Security Forces in Gaza, was killed at his home.
