Denver Public Schools on Friday announced three finalists for superintendent to succeed Susana Cordova, who left the district in December.
Notably, interim superintendent Dwight Jones is not among the contenders.
The finalists include:
- Andre Wright, chief academic officer at Aurora Public Schools
- Stephanie Soliven, assistant superintendent of secondary leading and learning at Brevard Public Schools in Florida
- Alex Marrero, interim superintendent of City School District of New Rochelle in New York
With the DPS announcement, most major districts in Colorado have secured a leader after the COVID-19 pandemic caused higher than usual turnover last school year.
Jeffco Public Schools recently appointed Tracy Dorland to lead the district; she began in April.
Last month, the Douglas County School District appointed interim superintendent Corey Wise to permanently fill the position, while the Cherry Creek School District named Christopher Smith as the sole finalist for the job and the Poudre School District confirmed Brian Kingsley to lead the district.
