SNP spokesman Tommy Sheppard left the House of Commons in stitches as he struggled to get a grip of his video gaffe. The MP was streaming into Parliament but ran into an issue with his sound that he hadn’t picked up on. Speaker of the House Lindsay Hoyle was forced to intervene, demanding several times that the Scottish nationalist sort out the problem.

When it was Mr Sheppard’s turn to probe Leader of the House Jacob Rees-Mogg during Business Questions on Thursday, the SNP politician started talking but no one could hear him.

Mr Hoyle interrupted: “Switch yourself on, Tommy. Switch on!”

However, the MP didn’t seem to hear the order and kept speaking to the amusement of the rest of the House.

The Commons was filled with laughter as other members watched the blunder unfold.
