‘At least 10 rockets explode’ as huge blasts heard near city university

Several rockets have reportedly been fired and landed in Kabul city, Afghanistan early this morning.

The explosion blasts were heard by residents nearby, it is believed.

There are reports that at least 10 rockets were fired near Lab-e-Jar square, near to Khurshid University.

Users have taken to social media to report of the loud explosions they have heard and are wishing that people are safe.

It is not yet known if there are casualties or the full nature of the incident.

Photos from the scene show large plumes of black smoke billowing in the area, and footage capture several, what is believed to be rockets, fired in to the air.

Kabul police said the rockets were fired from the city’s Khairkhana area, according to reports.

The incident took place 6.40am local time (2.10am GMT).
