Tributes have been paid to a three-year-old boy who died after falling into a canal while on a walk with his mum.
Dylan Milsom fell into the water in Newbury, Berkshire, on Saturday, March 13, as the pair were out feeding ducks.
Shelley Nardini, 36, jumped in and tried to save her son – but they were both pulled downstream by the current, The Sun reports.
The pair were rushed to hospital for treatment and Dylan was pronounced dead later that day.
The tragedy occurred on the Kennet & Avon Canal, near a weir.
It took place just metres away from Victoria Park, where dozens of children were enjoying a day out with their parents.
Social worker Shelley and her beloved child were just a day away from celebrating Mother’s Day before the accident.
On March 14, Shelley shared a picture of Dylan out for a walk on Facebook.
One user responded: "I have no words. My heart breaks for you. Sending my love and thinking of you all."
Another said: "Your beautiful, funny, cheeky little boy. We love you so much Dylan."
Grandmother Jackie Arrowsmith shared a picture of her cuddling Dylan and wrote: “Love him forever.”
One user called him a "beautiful boy with a cheeky smile".
Thames Valley Police earlier confirmed in a statement: "The death is being treated as unexplained but not suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
"Our thoughts are with the child’s family at this incredibly difficult time.”
