Boy found in alligator mouth after mum was stabbed has cause of death confirmed

The two-year-old boy who was found dead in the mouth of an alligator has had his cause of death confirmed.

Taylen Mosley had been reported missing after his mum, Pashun Jeffrey, 20, was found at their apartment having died of 100 stab wounds.

St Petersburg Police Department of Florida, United States, began searching for the youngster and concluded their search just a day later, having found the two-year-old in the jaws of a reptile.

Police shot at the alligator, which then dropped the boy's body and a Pinellas County Medical Examiner has since confirmed the boy died after drowning in a lake near to Pashun's Lincoln Shores apartment.

An alligator in Lake Magigore had been spotted with the youngster in its mouth, dropping the body after officers fired a round toward it.

Police Chief Anthony Holloway commented on the grim find at the time, saying: "Missing kid found inside alligator as mum stabbed to death and dad charged with murders. We are sorry that it had to end this way."

Taylen's father Thomas Mosley, 21, has since been charged with two counts of first-degree murder over the deaths of his son and Pashun.

The 21-year-old is currently being held without bond and is scheduled to appear at a hearing over the charges on May 5, New York Post reported.

Evidence presented in court showed Mosley was tied to the scene through a bloody fingerprint found on a cleaning bottle as well as a bloodied Gucci shoeprint found at the apartment.

Investigators have since alleged the stabbing of Pashun took place at a party held for Mosley, who is said to have stabbed the 20-year-old and then taken their son to the lake.

He is believed to have thrown the two-year-old into the alligator-infested waters, with The Daily Star previously reporting the search earlier this month.

Concerned loved ones had called on police to carry out a welfare check after being unable to contact Pashun, who was found dead in her apartment by attending officers.
