Brit dad-of-two dies in balcony fall 24 hours into his first ever holiday abroad

A Brit has died on his first holiday abroad after falling from a balcony.

Dad-of-two Dion was in Spain, having left the UK for the first time in his life for a trip with his girlfriend Leanne, when tragedy struck after the pair missed their original trip last year when Dion's passport arrived late.

The day he arrived, Dion called his dad back home to tell him all about the trip so far, remarking "how wonderfully warm it was."

He then tragically fell from a balcony less than 24 hours into his trip and died from his injuries, leaving behind his partner and two children.

Friends remembered Dion as an "absolutely sound and amazing bloke", while his cousin, Naomi, set up a GoFundMe page to help bring her cousin home and give support to Leanne, which has raised just over £3000 of its £10,000 goal at the time of writing.

"Dion was a very much loved father, a son to Tina and a son to Mark, a brother and partner in crime to Tye, a brother to Lacey, a beloved partner to Leanne, an uncle, a nephew to so many and an awesome cousin to many more," Naomi wrote.

"And, let us not forget all of his friends who thought he was an absolutely sound and amazing bloke."

The grieving cousin added her relative and his partner didn't have any travel insurance "due to an oversight", meaning bringing Dion back to the UK has been more complicated than expected.

"[It's] an absolutely devastating and unbelievable situation for Leanne, and of course everyone back home," Naomi continued.

"I was hoping that through the power of social media we could raise enough money to bring Dion home to give his two beautiful children the chance to say goodbye, as well as everyone else who loved him.

"Dion had settled into a wonderful life with Leanne and her two girls, and loved spending as much time as he could with his two adorable children.

"They had some great times on their visits and are really going to miss their Dad."
