A three-year-old British girl stabbed in a French park will be able to leave hospital soon, prosecutors say.
The girl, named locally as Ettie Turner, had been visiting Annecy in the French Alps with her family when the horror happened.
French President Emmanuel Macron said Ettie, was “watching television” when he visited her at the hospital in Grenoble.
Asylum seeker Abdelmasih Hanoun, 31, has been provisionally charged with attempted murder after Ettie, three
other tots, and two elderly adults were attacked on Thursday.
Lead prosecutor, Line Bonnet-Mathis, said yesterday that the motive for the attacks was a mystery and there was nothing to link them with terrorism.
All the victims are now out of danger. Hanoun, also charged with rebellion with a weapon, appeared heavily sedated and did not speak when he was carried before judges on a medical chair and remanded in custody.
Witnesses said the knifeman shouted “in the name of Jesus Christ” as he began the assaults, stabbing a child in a pushchair as bystanders screamed for help.
Hanoun, a Syrian Army deserter who was refused asylum in France a week ago, was shot and wounded by police.
