Covid-19 outbreak among patients and staff forces NHS hospital to shut ward

A hospital ward has been shut to new admissions following a recent outbreak of coronavirus among patients and staff.

The ward, which is at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, Scotland, has now been closed and a battle is now on to minimise the spread of the virus.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde says "a number" of positive cases have now been reported from the ward.

It adds that staff are working "extremely hard to ensure the appropriate measures have been implemented to minimise the spread of the virus.

Everyone affected is reported to have been contact traced, screened and are self-isolating.
