A married man who went by the alias “mystical gentleman” has been spared jail time after attempting to meet up with a 14-year-old girl because he wanted pictures of her feet.
Dad Austin Rickerby had been searching online for adults for sex, but ended up speaking to the minor instead.
The pair met three times, but no sexual activity took place.
And after a police investigation took place, dozens of incident images were found on his devices.
Newcastle Crown Court heard this week how the offences came to light after police had welfare concerns for the 14-year-old.
According to Chronicle Live, the youngster joined the site and pretended she was initially 18.
She then changed that to 16 and 14 at different stages.
After police got involved, a search of the man's home took place in August 2018, where indecent images of children aged between six and 17 were found.
Nick Adlington, prosecuting, said: “He continued to communicate with her and received a number of pictures from her and had a sexual conversation.
“He asked if she would participate in a foot fetish. He asked for a picture of her feet. He met her three times.”
The man pleaded guilty to sexual communication with a child, three counts of making indecent images of a child, possessing extreme pornography and possessing prohibited images.
The 43-year-old was sentenced to 12 months in prison which was suspended for 18 months with a three month curfew and £500 costs.
He will also be made to sign the sex offenders register for 10 years and have a sexual harm prevention order placed on him for five years.
Recorder Carl Gumsley told him: “You have a good job, a family, a child, no issues with money or substances and it would be difficult for many people to understand what on earth led you to get involved in these matters.
“Not only did you communicate with a child but you were found to have a significant number of distressing scenes on your various technologies.
“In order for you to get satisfaction they have go through the most appalling and terrible experiences.
“It would be better for society to give you the opportunity to at least address those thoughts.”
