Denver area in for stormy afternoon, according to National Weather Service

4:59 p.m.: One-inch hail is reported in Parker by National Weather Service spotters.

4:55 p.m.: Inbound flights to Denver International Airport are being held at their airport of origin until 5:30 p.m. Mountain Time because of stormy weather here, according to FligtAware.com. DIA is under a severe thunderstorm watch.

4:43 p.m.: A severe thunderstorm warning is posted by the National Weather Service for Aurora, Centennial and DIA until 5:30 p.m. Half dollar-size hail could hammer some areas along with 50 mph winds.

4:35 p.m.: Castle Rock and surrounding areas of Douglas County are under a special weather statement issued by the National Weather Service for possible nickel-size hail and stormy winds gusting to 30 mph. The weather statement expires at 5 p.m.
