Denver weather: Possible record highs this weekend as temperatures near 80 degrees

It may be time to break out shorts and a T-shirt. This weekend is expected to be very warm and sunny.


According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, Denver will be in for a pleasant Friday. Clouds will decrease as the day moves along, and the sun will heat Denver to a high of 68 degrees. The wind will die down, only gusting up to 15 mph. The Friday night low will drop to 41 degrees.

Saturday’s high will reach a mostly sunny 79 degrees; the record is 84 degrees set in 1971. Winds could increase to 22 mph gusts in the afternoon. The low will dip to 45 degrees overnight.

Sunday is forecasted to break the record high of 78 degrees set in 1988. Forecasters say the high will hit 80 degrees under partly sunny skies. Wind won’t be a factor. The low temperature will fall to 46 degrees.

The next chance for precipitation is on Tuesday, with snow possible early Wednesday morning.
