Princess Eugenie could spark a "new royal war" after recent Instagram posts indicated her loyalties may lie with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, experts say.
The first hint of drama came after her husband, Jack Brooksbank was photographed on a boat with three topless women.
However, this weekend it emerged that Harry might call on his cousin Eugenie to help him with his upcoming autobiography which is set to be released next year.
According to The Sun, the scandalous new book is being ghostwritten by Pulitzer Prize-winner JR Moehringer, who “is expected to bypass formal channels and contact the duke’s inner circle via Harry.”
An insider told the paper’s royal correspondent Matt Wilkinson: “I could only imagine Eugenie talking or being approached as she is someone Harry is still in regular contact with.”
Royal writer Daniela Elser said that Eugenie's birthday wishes to the Duchess of Sussex last week were the "boldest indication yet" of where her loyalties lie.
In a column for news.com.au headlined "Princess Eugenie's Instagram post points to new royal war", she wrote: "While the notion that Eugenie, who is popular with the Queen, might so obviously break ranks with The Firm does at first glance seem a tad preposterous, but you have to keep in mind the backstory here.

"For years now, Eugenie has been the member of the royal family who has been closest to Meghan.
"While the various royal houses all shared sterile, official posts last week on social media to mark the duchess’ 40th birthday, it was Eugenie alone who very affectionately threw her weight behind “dear Meghan’s” 40×40 mentorship campaign via Instagram."

On the Duchess of Sussex’s 40th birthday on August 4, Eugenie posted a message of support on her own Instagram Stories.

“Please join me in donating your time. Together, we can contribute to a global wave of compassion and positive change.”
