An ex-police officer has been accused of shooting dead his estranged wife, daughter and her boyfriend.
Stephen Nicholas Broderick, 41, was arrested after Alyssa Broderick, her mum Amanda Broderick and her boyfriend Willie Simmons were killed in Austin, Texas in the US on Sunday.
The former detective had been placed on administrative leave last June after being charged with sexual assault of a child, according to local reports.
He resigned from his job after he was released from police custody on a $50,000 bond.
Police were called to the apartment complex at about 11.40am on Sunday morning.
Officers launched a manhunt for Broderick.
Broderick, who had worked for the Travis County Sheriff's Office, was arrested on Monday morning on a main road and taken into custody.
Joseph Chacon, Austin's interim police chief, said: “This appears to be a domestic incident, and the victims were all known to our suspect.”
Broderick’s wife had filed for divorce and obtained an order of protection after his arrest last year, according to local media.
