Ex-WWE and Playboy star says its time for a change as she hints at new look

A former WWE star has hinted that she might be about to change her iconic look in her latest Instagram post.

Maria Kanellis-Bennett, known to WWE fans simply as Maria, might not have appeared for the sports entertainment giants since 2020, but she still remains an all-time favourite for many.

And her iconic long hair dark-brown hair could be set for a chop, if her new post is anything to go by.

Maria, who now appears in All Elite Wrestling alongside husband Mike Bennett and Matt Taven as part of the Kingdom faction, took to the social media app to show off her figure in a tight red dress with her hair flowing in front of her.

She captioned it: “About to cut and die my hair today.

“Time for a change.”

The post quickly got more than 5,000 likes from her army of nearly one million Instagram followers.

The 40-year-old was praised for the photo, with many calling her “stunning”, but some were worried by the admission of change.

One wrote: “I say NOOO but do what you want, I really have no say.

“I'm sure it will look amazing.”

While another wrote: “Please don't cut your hair.”

However, some just appreciated Maria for who she is, with one person writing: “Perfection cannot be overlooked no matter what you do from now on your just hotter than hell (sic).”

Maria shot to fame with WWE as part of the 2004 Diva Search contest, and grew worldwide fame when she appeared on the cover of Playboy magazine in 2008 – this came with a fully nude pictorial feature of her.

During her time with WWE, she won the Diva of the Year award in 2009, the 24/7 championship in 2019, and picked up the TNA Knockouts Championship when she joined TNA Wrestling in 2016.

During her career, she has gone from being portrayed as an airhead to becoming one of the most respected females in the ring and on the microphone, having also appeared in Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling.
