Girl, 13, charged with murder after man is shot multiple times in broad daylight

A 13-year-old girl has been charged with murder after a man was found with multiple gunshot wounds on a street.

The suspect, who cannot be named because she is a child, has been charged with the murder of Niles Holmes, 35, on December 10.

Niles died in hospital after being found unresponsive on Martin Luther King Drive near Wilkinson Avenue in Jersey City, New Jersey US, with multiple gunshot wounds to his chest.

Witnesses claim to have seen a group of juveniles run from the scene of the shooting soon after shots were fired at 4.15pm.

Police arrested the teenage girl, two weeks after the shooting at around 7pm on Christmas Eve.

She now faces charges of murder, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a firearm, and other offences.

According to police radio transmissions heard by a small group of teens were being hunted by police after they ran from the scene of the shooting.

Not long after the shooting, a second victim aged 24, was found with several graze wounds to his arm and taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries, according to The Daily Beast.

The shooting is understood to be the result of a dispute between various groups but is not gang related, according to NBC.

The relationship between the teen and Holmes has not been made clear, nor has a motive for the shooting.

It comes after three police officers were shot dead after responding to a domestic violence call in France, in a separate incident.
