A man arrested for beating us his ex-partner spent his entire journey to custody pleasuring himself in front of police officers.
Daniel Rutter, 33, had his private parts exposed for the entire 45-minute journey from Flamborough, where he was arrested, to Clough Road Police Station.
Having been bundled into the police van, he subjected two female officers to an enforced period of sexual harassment, where he exposed himself, masturbated and made horrendous comments to the pair, too.
Pardeep Dhinsa, prosecuting, told the court that the man and his ex ended up having sex in a van, but then he became jealous and hit her twice.
He also spat on his ex, the Hull Daily Mail reports.
Police arrived to arrest him, and he spit on them, too.
Rutter admitted assaulting two emergency workers, assault by beating, harassment without violence, and causing criminal damage.
He was sentenced to 18 weeks in prison.
He denied the charge of exposure, but was found guilty anyway – and will be sentenced for this at Hull Crown Court next month.
One of his arresting officers told the court: “It was pretty disgusting, there is an expectation that as police officers we have to put up with so much but this time it went too far.
“It really concerned me to think that he was doing this to someone in uniform, it made me scared to think what might happen when I'm off duty.
“He was in the prisoner cage in the back of the van, he was cuffed and he had already been aggressive to the two arresting officers. I was supervising his welfare in the cage and another female officer was driving.
“He began touching himself over his trousers and making comments towards me and the driver, he then stood up and took down his trousers exposing his penis.
“For the 45 minute journey it didn't go back into his trousers and he was constantly touching himself and making references to me and the other officer.”
District Judge Nick Hayles agreed, stating that what took place was “nothing more than trying to cause that officer harm and distress throughout”.
