Harry gets standing ovation at US event with fans saying ‘he belongs to us now’

Prince Harry received an overwhelming response from the audience when he attended the star-studded Vax Live charity concert in Los Angeles, US.

The Duke of Sussex was seen in the public for the first time since his late grandfather Prince Philip's funeral and joined other celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Selena Gomez and Ben Affleck at the So-Fi Stadium in Inglewood on Sunday night.

But his pregnant wife, Meghan Markle, was not seen on stage with him.

In videos shared on Twitter, Harry walks on-stage alone and receives a standing ovation from the fully-vaccinated guests.

They clap and cheer for him in high spirits as he greets the guests before he gives a speech, saying: "Tonight is a celebration of each of you here, the vaccinated frontline workers in the audience and the millions of frontline heroes around the world.

"You spent the last year battling courageously and selflessly to protect us all. You served and sacrificed, put yourselves in harm's way, and acted with bravery, knowing the costs. We owe you an incredible debt of gratitude. Thank you."

Viewers quickly took to social media and shared their reactions when they saw Prince Harry.

One said: "This reaction for Prince Harry in California at #VaxLive is really something. Somehow doubt that anyone other than the Queen or his late mother would get similar."

A second wrote: "This is how America treats human beings unlike England treats Meghan. Harry belongs to us now."

"He’s always been underestimated…he’s got his mum’s genuine charm Americans always love," a third added.

But some were disappointed when they noticed Meghan was not attending the event.

A viewer penned: "Me checking the hashtag every two seconds to see, are there any pics of Meghan and Harry at VaxLive."

"'Harry and Meghan will join Selena Gomez at the VaxLive.' Where is my Meghan though?" another asked.

Meghan, who is currently heavily pregnant, is expected to give birth to her second child in early June.

The couple posted a gorgeous black and white pregnancy picture on social media in February, and later revealed the gender of the baby while doing the the interview with Oprah Winfrey.
