Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been labelled as 'jealous' and told to 'be original' by royal fans who reckon they are 'copying' Prince William and Kate Middleton with their latest announcement.
The Sussexes pledged on Tuesday that their charity Archewell will reach net zero carbon emissions by 2030 across its Foundation, Audio and Production divisions.
Their statement read: "Achieving net zero carbon emissions means making a series of choices over time to make that footprint as small as possible, while compensating for any remaining emissions through high-quality carbon removal projects.
"As an organization, we will work with an independent consultant to track all Archewell-related activities from our inception (internet use, commutes, and electricity in home offices, for example) to understand our collective footprint."
They added that they aim to ensure that their financial investments support the "low-carbon economy".
However, fans of William and Kate were quick to notice the similarities between the Sussexes' statement and the Cambridges' actions over the past few days, reports the Express.
As well as appearing front and centre at the COP26 climate conference this week, William and Kate recently hosted the Earthshot prize awards where five prizes of £1 million were given to different environmental projects around the world.
People soon took to Twitter to voice their opinions.
One user said: "#Harryandmeghan, your jealousy is showing. Sheesh!!"
"Be original," wrote another, who also posted a screenshot of an older article that suggested William and Kate had copied Harry and Meghan in some way.
A third person chimed: "To use the Queens analogy in her #COP26 speech, originally used by Prince Harry, its now time for 'action and not just words'."
A fourth theorised: "Its just PR to connect them to the COP26 event."
However, not everyone was critical of the statement and many praised the Sussexes for doing their part in the bid to save our planet.
One royal fan wrote: "So practical! So sensible!! So action oriented!! So grassroots!! So Sussex!"
"Now this is awesome! #TeamArchewell," added another.
