King Charles kind message to Meghan and Harry showed they are not the future

King Charles III gave an address to the nation watched by millions on TV screens across the country.

The new sovereign paid homage to his "darling mama" who tragically passed away on Thursday (September 8) and expressed his admiration for the royals who remain including Camilla and Prince William – as well as Harry and Meghan.

Speaking of the Sussexes in his speech, the King said: "I want also to express my love for Harry and Meghan as they continue to build their lives overseas."

The Sussexes stepped down from their royal posts in 2020 and since then have not been filled with warmth for their royal relatives, having given a series of bombshell interviews about their time as working royals, but royal expert Kinsey Schofield believes Charles' "kind" speech shows that the royal family are moving on.

"The mention of Harry and Meghan lacked their royal titles and was brief but kind," she observed.

"We love them, let’s move on. They are not the future and that’s the end of it."

The analysis comes following news that Meghan was stopped from going to Balmoral with her husband Prince Harry as his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, was taking her final breaths.

The monarch tragically passed away at the age of 96 on Thursday (September 8) as members of her family including Charles and Camilla and heir to the throne Prince William hurried to be by her side in her final moments.

Prince Harry was supposed to arrive accompanied by Meghan but arrived at the Scottish residence alone and was one the last to get there, and new speculation that Meghan was banned at the last minute could explain why.

"Tensions were so high and there was no way Meghan could have gone to Balmoral," a palace insider told The New York Post on the Friday following the monarch's death.

“The fact the Sussex camp did say both Harry and Meghan were going — and then quickly retracted that statement — will tell you everything you need to know about the drama behind the scenes."

Her Majesty's death came just days after Meghan's latest interview with The Cut, which saw her make a series of shocking allegations, including that Harry had "lost" his father after she and the Prince stepped down as working royals.

The Sussexes have since been reunited and are currently staying at Frogmore Cottage, where Harry is expected to remain until his grandmother's state funeral.
