Little angels killed in drink driver crash have gone to heaven together

Sweet photos have been shared of a tragic young brother and sister who were killed in a horror motorway crash which allegedly involved a drink-driver.

Smaller McCann, 10, and his younger sister Lilly McCann, 4, tragically died in the horror incident on the M1, near Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, on Monday, August 9.

Heartbroken loved ones have paid tribute to the siblings, saying they have "never been sadder" and are "in shock".

Smaller recently celebrated his 10th birthday, with his mum sharing photos of the special day on Monday, just hours before the crash, showing him and Lilly standing next to a novelty balloon.

A 35-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and dangerous driving after a white Vauxhall Astra collided with a Scania lorry, the Mirror reports.

The children were passengers in the Astra. Another child passenger and the driver were injured and taken to hospital, but have since been discharged.

The HGV driver was not injured in the incident, which happened between junctions 14 and 15 of the M1 at about 11.10pm on Monday.

Family members have paid tribute to Smaller and Lilly, and offered condolences to their parents, with one writing: "RIP you two beautiful little angels. Never seen sadder in my life.

"Such a cruel world we all live in. Keep their mummy and daddy in your prayers, couldn’t imagine their pain.

"Two little lives taken way too soon. A little brother and sister gone to heaven together."

An aunt wrote: "Love you always and forever and never in this lifetime will you ever be forgotten, always loved."

Another relative wrote: "RIP cousins. May god give you the best beds."

A family friend added: "I genuinely am in shock. Rest in Peace the both of yous Smaller and Lilly McCann."

A witness wrote on Facebook: "I drove past this… and seeing the state of the white car broke my heart. Hoped everyone would be ok and now seeing this (news report of the children's deaths) has wounded me."

Thames Valley Police said a 35-year-old woman, from Derby, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving a motor vehicle when above the prescribed limit of alcohol.

She remains in custody.

A police spokesperson said: "A 35-year-old woman from Derby, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving a motor vehicle when above the prescribed limit of alcohol. She remains in custody."

Investigating officer Sergeant Dominic Mahon, of the serious collision investigation unit at Bicester, Oxfordshire, added: “My thoughts remain with the family of the two children who sadly died at this extremely difficult time.

“We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this collision or anyone who may have dashcam footage that may have captured what happened, or either of the vehicles prior to the collision, to please get in touch.”
