Meghan Markle slams ‘bad voices’ on social media who are ‘so loud and damaging’

Meghan Markle has opened up about "bad voices" on social media which she says are "so loud and damaging".

The Duchess of Sussex says she quit her own accounts for self preservation.

Prince Harry and Meghan hosted a special edition of Time100 Talks about the "state of our digital experience" from their £11million Santa Barbara mansion.

Meghan, dressed in an Alexander McQueen black suit, admitted that while she and Harry "don't speak tech", they "know the experience of being a human being and the pain and suffering and joy that has come from this worldwide web".

Harry said online platforms are "distracting us from the things we should be focused on".

He added: "What is happening in the online world is affecting the world. This is a global crisis of hate, a global crisis of misinformation, and a global health crisis."

Asked how the couple are doing, the Duke added: "There's a lot of stuff to be focused on, a lot of work.

"This is an opportunity to spend more time as a family than we probably would otherwise."

Meghan, 39, told of how since January, when the pair stepped down as senior royals, they began "connecting the dots" between many causes they're passionate about, such as mental health, women's empowerment, the environment and online spaces.

She also recalled how she read about a staff member of YouTube who filed for PTSD due to the stress they took home every day.

"Can you imagine carrying that every day, it's everyone who ends up affected by it," she said.

"The good outweighs the bad but goodness, the bad can be so loud the damage that happens as a result of that.
