Met Office weather warning issued for dangerous ice as cold blast sweeps Britain

Forecasters urged people to be careful of slipping and falling on icy surfaces. The weather warning has been put in place in Scotland and Northern Ireland from midnight until 11am on Friday.

The Met Office said: “Icy patches are likely especially on untreated surfaces, leading to tricky travel conditions in places.

“What to expect: Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces. Probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths. “
