A pervert businessman that was "high on drugs" during a vile sex attack on a 17-year-old while on a flight from Lanzarote to Manchester.

Andrew Reay, 46, told the youngster he wanted to "f*** her" on the easyJet flight after "screaming and shouting", leaving his victim feeling "awkward" and "disgusting".

The 46-year-old was allowed to walk free from Minishull Street Crown Court and return to the Canary Islands with a fine of £400 and a registry onto the sexual offenders register.

Judge Maurice Greene insisted that employees would be "affected" by a prison term for Reay, who is said to have touched a 17-year-old's leg on the flight home.

The court heard that Reay had been "loud and messing around" with another passenger while sat next to the student and subsequently bought alcohol.

Following the consumption on the flight from September 2, 2020, it is said that the Spanish teenager sat to his right began to feel "uncomfortable".

Virginia Hayton, prosecuting, said: "She tried to move but he would get hold of her arm, telling her to stay," and added that the defendant soon "turned all his attention" to her after more than an hour.

She said that Reay had been "super friendly" and encouraged her to have a drink, despite feeling "awkward" and eventually having "relented" at the drink, which the 46-year-old had "kept on at her".

Reay was also said to have taken drugs before the flight, claiming that cannabis was "not hard enough", instead opting to "put white powder" in his joints "to make them good".

Hayton added that Reay opened his legs wide enough to touch the teenager's, which made her feel "horrible" and subsequently ran his hand "up and down over her trousers" leaving her feeling "disgusting".

Reay also made comments about wanting to have sex with the teenager, with Hayton saying: "He said 'it's a shame' she was only 17 and 'he would like to f*** her'. She felt like crying. She felt scared. She thought he could get violent at any time."

Defending, Eleanor Gleeson said her client "understands the seriousness of his offence" and that a "number of difficulties" in his youth had been put behind him after he had "made a life for himself in the Canary Islands".

In sentencing, Judge Greene commented that the incident was "extremely unpleasant" but that it was "not the behaviour that [Reay] exhibits on a regular basis."

He added: "You targeted this 17-year-old Spanish student who was minding her own business and you were suggestive to her. You gave her little room, opened your legs out so your legs were against her legs, and then rubbed her leg up and down.

"You knew that was unpleasant for her. You said at one point, 'am I making you uncomfortable?'. You knew she was 17 because you said 'it's a shame you are 17 because I want to f*** you.

"This was a young lady of 17 who all she wanted to do was fly from one place to another, and she had to contend with your attentions in a place that she could not really escape, on a plane."

Reay was signed onto the sex offenders register following his conviction, which also saw a charge of £400 and a suspended sentence of one year, MEN reported.
