Prince Harry and William’s relationship ‘worse than ever’ even before Meghan

Prince William and Harry's relationship is now "worse than ever", according to new reports.

Sources close to the family have reportedly said the rift between the two brothers has been increasing, and the tension goes back to before Harry married Meghan Markle .

The Daily Mail reports the brothers have been drifting apart since as far back as when Harry left the army in 2015.

Last week Harry was tricked into a phone conversation with Russian pranksters pretending to be Swedish climate change activist Greta Thunberg , during which he spoke about his time in the army.

"You forget, I was in the military for 10 years so I'm more normal than my family would like to believe," he reportedly said.

It's believed Harry found his time in the army fulfilling and struggled to return to civilian life after leaving.

Royal sources say that at the same time, he was feeling frustrated about his relationship with William.

"Harry has always been looking for signs that he belongs, but soon all he could see – I think wrongly – were signs that told him he wasn't needed," a source told the Daily Mail.

"He should have taken his father's advice and stayed in the military. Leaving the army was the worst thing he could have done."

Another claims: "It didn't help that William never let Harry forget which of them was going to be king."

Two weeks out from Harry and Meghan's departure from the Royal Family , William is said to feel that his brother "disrespected" the monarchy in his decision to step back.

Harry alluded to tensions in their relationship in an interview last October in which he said the two were "on different paths".

"We don't see as much of each other as we used to because we are so busy but I love him dearly and the majority of stuff is created out of nothing," he told ITN's Tom Bradby.

In the same interview, Meghan admitted that she was "not really OK" when asked about her mental state.
