Royal photos celebrating Prince Harry’s birthday have triggered a row over Meghan Markle’s absence.
Prince William and Kate Middleton shared a snap with Harry to mark his 36th birthday yesterday, September 15.
The three of them were pictured running a leg of a relay race in February 2017 during an event for the royals’ mental health campaign Heads Together, months after Harry had started dating Meghan.
However, The “Fab Four” relationship has since seemingly broken down, with rumours of a long-running royal feud.
Some royal fans believe that Meghan’s absence was no accident.
But royal commentator Richard Kay argued in the Daily Mail: “However compelling the narrative of brothers at war may be, insiders dismiss suggestions that Meghan was purposely not included in the Cambridges’ photo.
“According to aides there is a protocol surrounding royal birthdays, just as there is for any other Palace-sponsored event. Spouses are never included.”
Harry’s dad Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall shared pictures of the pair at the Invictus Games in 2014 to mark the occasion.
The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh also posted a pic of their beaming grandson at a Queen Young Leaders reception at Buckingham Palace in 2017.
Mr Kay continued: “Consider also the photos chosen by his father and grandmother. In both there is a smile on Prince Harry’s face. How extraordinary to learn that they too are not recent photographs but several years old."

The picture of Harry and the Queen was taken in 2017 and the shot of his father brimming with pride at his son is six years old.
Kay said it seems "astonishing" that Harry's loved ones had to hunt through their archives to find the prince looking happy.
He writes: “While it is of course unlikely that the royals would indulge in mind games, many will doubtless consider that the message here is a poignant one: ‘We miss you the way you were.’”

To mark his birthday, Meghan and Harry provided a huge £100,000 donation to Camfed, an organisation campaigning for female education in Africa.
The couple had pledged to match the amount of money raised by their fans.
A message to their supporters said: "No better way to celebrate what really matters. Thank you to everyone who donated, Harry and Meghan."
The campaign to raise money for the charity began last month for Meghan's birthday on August 4.
It is hoped the money will help 113 women.
