The Queen is "distraught" following a "rough few weeks", it has been reported.
Since the Queen's husband Prince Philip, 99, was taken to hospital "as a precautionary measure" on Tuesday last week, it has also been confirmed that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will not be returning to their roles within the Royal Family.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been stripped of their Royal titles, while Prince Philip has remained in hospital as he fights an infection.
Philip is “comfortable and responding to treatment”, Buckingham Palace said on Tuesday.
He is not expected to leave hospital for several days.
“It’s been a rough few weeks for the queen, that’s for sure,” a source told Us Weekly. “The situation with Harry and Meghan has been challenging, and on top of that, she’s distraught over her beloved husband’s health setback.”
In a short statement on Tuesday, Buckingham Palace said: "The Duke of Edinburgh remains at King Edward VII's Hospital where he is receiving medical attention for an infection.
"He is comfortable and responding to treatment but is not expected to leave hospital for several days."
Prince Charles visited him in hospital on Saturday, February 20.
Prince Edward said Prince Philip, his dad, was feeling a "lot better".
Buckingham Palace said that “all are saddened by their decision” to leave the UK behind and say goodbye to the monarchy.

But the Duke and Duchess of Sussex “remain much loved members of the family”, it added.
The Palace said: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have confirmed to Her Majesty The Queen that they will not be returning as working members of The Royal Family.
“Following conversations with The Duke, The Queen has written confirming that in stepping away from the work of The Royal Family it is not possible to continue with the responsibilities and duties that come with a life of public service."
But a spokesperson for the couple said: “As evidenced by their work over the past year, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex remain committed to their duty and service to the UK and around the world, and have offered their continued support to the organisations they have represented regardless of official role.
“We can all live a life of service. Service is universal.”
