The Royal Family recently shared unreleased footage of the Queen's younger self showing off her beautiful engagement ring which has left fans gushing at the happy looking monarch in the lead up to her Platinum Jubilee.

Now a jewellery expert has commented on the whopping price of the timeless ring which has become a staple of Queen Elizabeth's story.

The unreleased videos, which were filmed by members of the Royal Family during her 70-year reign, IS shown in full in a new BBC documentary.

Daniel O’Farrell, founder of DC Jewellery and gemologist, estimated that the ring would likely retail in the region of £150,000.

But he added that "due to the provenance and historical significance of the ring, were it ever to come to market it would be worth many millions.”

The engagement ring is likely to be the monarch's "most treasured piece" after it was presented to her by Prince Philip in 1946, according to the expert.

Daniel continued: "The diamond is a 3ct round brilliant cut taken and repurposed from a Tiara belonging to Philips mother, and set into the 8 claw outward tapering pave set ring with 4 round brilliant cuts set into either shoulder."

Reacting to the image of the Queen beaming at her engagement ring, one royal fan said: "She looks so beautiful and that ring is perfect."

Another said: "It's stunning!"
