A natural resources ranger was found dead early Friday morning in Horsetooth Reservoir.
The ranger was reported missing just after 9:15 p.m. Thursday after a strong wind event on the Northern Colorado body of water, the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
Authorities found the ranger’s boat on the water, but couldn’t immediately find the ranger.
“A massive search was immediately launched in efforts to locate and rescue the ranger,” deputies stated in a news release.
At least nine different agencies were involved in the search and the ranger’s body was pulled from the water around 3:30 a.m. Friday.
The coroner’s office will release the ranger’s identity and cause of death. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the ranger’s family and our partners at the Larimer County Department of Natural Resources,” deputies stated in a news release.
