An evil monster who molested his stepdaughter as she slept and raped his wife making her life a "living hell" has been jailed.

Monstrous Trevor Gleeson subjected wife Emma and teenager Gina to a terrifying campaign of abuse.

The pair waived their right to anonymity so the true extent and nature of Gleeson's horrific crimes could be revealed, the Liverpool Echo reports.

He forced Emma to have four abortions against her wishes and threatened to "kick the babies out of her" unless she did what he wanted.

Gleeson crept into his stepdaughter's bedroom to sexually assault her as she slept between the ages of 14 and 16, while he took photos and videos of her as he sexually assaulted her.

The teenager was so terrified she pretended to be asleep at the family home in Bebington, Merseyside.

The pair found the courage to go to the police on November 20 of last year and Gleeson has now been jailed for 13 years.

Cowardly Gleeson only admitted one sexual assault against Gina and taking an indecent photo of her. He denied any other wrongdoing, forcing his victims and teenage son to give evidence in a harrowing trial at Liverpool Crown Court.

He was found guilty of rape, assault causing actual bodily harm and controlling or coercive behaviour against Emma and eight counts of sexual assault against Gina.

Regarding his sexual assaults on Gina, Judge Garrett Byrne told him: "This was a cynical and appalling course of conduct, where you were motivated only by your sexual desires.

"It is apparent from your evidence during the trial and from the pre-sentence report that you are in almost complete denial about this."

Gleeson started seeing Emma 17 years ago, when Gina – who called him "dad" – was just a baby.

Prosecutor Robert Dudley said Emma hated herself for staying with the "monster" but was "scared to do anything".

Gleeson regularly attacked his wife and was seen by his son to slap her, throw food on the floor and tell her to eat it like a dog.

Judge Byrne said: "By a deliberate strategy of inflicting violence and threatening violence, you were able to exert a control over Emma that made her life a living hell.

"It is a great credit that she finally managed to summon up the courage to leave you."

The court heard Gleeson was violent during controlling and coercive behaviour over a four-year period from December 2015 (when the law was introduced) until November 2019.

Judge Byrne added: "Throughout that time you hit her and kicked her and held knives to her throat. There were several incidents of violence."

Paul Becker, defending, said there was "very little" he could say about the facts of the case.

He said Gleeson was a man of previous "good character".

Emma was left suffering flashbacks and "considered suicide to be the only escape".

Gina suffers from panic attacks and self-harms while she tried to kill herself in September.

Gleeson must sign on the Sex Offenders Register for life and comply with an indefinite restraining order, preventing him from contacting Emma or Gina.
