A man who brutally stabbed an elderly couple to death blamed the horrific stabbing on the horror movie Halloween 2.
Richard Delmer Boyer stabbed Francis and Eileen Harbitz more than 40 times inside their home in Fullerton, California.
He said he experienced hallucinations from watching the movie, which tells the story of Michael Myers who spreads fear across a town with his killing spree.

The double-stabbing sparked a trial named People v. Boyer, which discussed the effects of violence portrayed in the media on young people in 1989.
The couple shared a total of 43 stab wounds between them and their wallets had been stolen, reports Screen Rant.
It was reported that Boyer was friendly with the couple's son.
He told the jury he watched the movie while under the influence of drugs such as PCP, weed, and alcohol, which he said caused him to act out.
When the jury and a medical expert watched the film, they picked up on similarities between several scenes and Boyers' visions.
It was reported that Boyer headed to their home and blacked out while he was there.
He believed he was under attack by the antagonist in the movie.
The jury said it was unlikely the movie caused him to kill and viewed it as an improbable defence.
Boyer was found guilty of the crimes and was sentenced to death.

However, he wasn't the only one who claimed to be influenced to commit crime by the movie.
Teen Jake Evans shot his mother Jamie Evans, 46, and his sister Mallory, 15, to death after watching Rob Zombie’s 2007 Halloween remake multiple times.
In a written confession released after his arrest, Evans referred to the movie's opening scene.
He said: "After I watched the movie I put it back in the case and threw it in the trashcan so that people wouldn’t think that it influenced me in any way.
"I was amazed at how at ease the boy was during the murders and how little remorse he had afterward.
"I was thinking to myself it would be the same for me when I kill someone."
