Royal Family’s ‘unwritten celeb rule’ that Meghan and Harry no longer follow

The Royal Family have an "unwritten rule" about not trusting celebrities which is something Prince Harry and Meghan Markle seemingly no longer follow, royal commentators have suggested.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back as senior royals last year and have fully integrated into the Hollywood lifestyle in Los Angeles, US.

Meghan and Harry's explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey stunned the world, the prince recently appeared alongside a host of celebrities at the Vax Live concert and has even previously appeared on the Late Late Show with James Corden.

But mixing with celebrities as a senior royal is going against an "unwritten rule", according to Daily Mail's diary editor Charlotte Griffiths.

She told Palace Confidential podcast: "They don’t do celebrity, the royals. There is a sort of unwritten rule that celebrity is something that they are not interested in."

Charlotte went on to claim Prince William and Kate Middleton often have "wild parties" at their home in Norfolk – but celebrities would rarely make an appearance.

"They can’t really trust celebrities as much as much as they can trust their inner circles of Norfolk dwelling low-key friends," she added.

Instead, Charlotte says the Cambridges mix with "shooting" circles an not glamour parties.

“They do have wild parties on these shooting weekends it’s just that they are behind stately homes, palace walls,” she added.

But this appears in stark contrast to William's brother Harry, who royal correspondent Richard Eden called "just another royal celebrity".

Speaking about the trailer for the Vax Live concert, he said: “My heart did sink when I saw the trailer for the event and you hear Harry and Meghan just lined up with these various celebrities so it feels like they’ve left all the royal background and they are just now another royal celebrity," he said.

Following his appearance, fans gushed that Harry was a "true American".
