Touching footage has emerged seemingly showing the Queen kindly offering to share a blanket with Meghan Markle on a visit, hours after the Duchess of Sussex recalled the moment in her interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The Duchess of Sussex heaped praise on the Queen during her tell-all talk with Oprah, which aired on ITV last night (March 7).

On her first official joint engagement with Her Majesty to Cheshire in 2018, Meghan recalled: “We were in the car going between engagements, and she has a blanket that sits across her knees for warmth and it was chilly… and she was like, 'Meghan, come on,' and put it over my knees, as well."

And footage has now emerged appearing to show that exact moment on camera.

The clip, taken by Phil Doyle, shows Meghan and the Queen entering a car after one of the visits.

The Queen, dressed in a resplendent lime green outfit, sits in the back first before the former Suits actress joins her.

There appears to be some sort of discussion before the 94-year-old seems to spread out her blanket to cover Meghan as well.

Taking to Twitter, Phil said: “Pretty sure I saw Queeny putting the blanket over Meghan like she said in that interview.”

Hundreds of people have seen the clip, with several commenting their thoughts.

“I wondered if she was referring to the Chester visit,” one said.

Phil replied: “I think she was, I remember seeing the Queen putting her hand on her lap at the time with the blanket.”

Speaking to the Daily Star, Phil said the pair seemed "very happy and warm together" on their royal visit.

"I remember at the time the Queen reaching over in the car and placing the blanket and rubbing her leg," he added.

"I thought at the time she may have been reassuring for Megan on her first engagement with the Queen."

As well as offering to share her blanket, Meghan revealed how she had breakfast with the Queen on the morning of their engagement and was given a gift.

“I just really loved being in her company,” she said.

“And I remember we were in the car, she gave me some beautiful pearl earrings and a matching necklace."

The footage comes after Oprah confirmed Her Majesty and Prince Philip were not behind the alleged racist remark made about Archie.

During the interview, Meghan claimed someone at the Palace expressed concerns over what the skin color of then-unborn Archie would be.

Oprah with Meghan and Harry is available to watch on ITV Hub now.
