A serious incident has been declared in Dublin, Ireland, with reports of multiple stabbings taking place.
Emergency services have swarmed Parnell Square East, with Gardia confirming to the Daily Star that investigations are ongoing.
An Garda Síochána has said five people have been taken to various hospitals in the Dublin region. They are an adult male, and adult female and three young children.
A spokesman said: "An Garda Síochána are currently at the scene of a serious incident on Parnell Square East and are being assisted other emergency services. At this early stage, An Garda Síochána is not in a position to confirm any further details.
Video footage from the scene showed several Gardai vehicles and ambulances on the scene, which is near a school.
There are reports that children were stabbed, but the Daily Star has not been able to independently very this, however RTE News has claimed that at least three were taken to hospital.
A man, thought to be a suspect, was also being treated at the scene, which has now been sealed off. The Irish times spoke to a witness who reported a "man" who was "seen attacking a group of young people with a knife" at 1.45pm.
And, acording to Irish journalist Ben Scallan: "At Parnell Square and the whole place is cordoned off by police – 3 ambulances, 3 fire engines, 8 Garda cruisers. There's crime scene tape up and police are saying there's been an 'incident' but refuse to comment further. Reports claim there's been a stabbing near a school."
