Seven confirmed dead in horror petrol station explosion as search continues

Seven people have now been confirmed dead in a petrol station explosion in Co Donegal, Ireland, Irish police have said.

The horror explosion had rescuers searching the devastated site of collapsed walls and debris following the devastating blast.

In a statement, Irish police An Garda Siochana said the operation remained in a “search and recovery phase” for further fatalities.

“An Garda Siochana can now confirm seven fatalities as a result of this incident – three fatalities were confirmed yesterday; four fatalities are now confirmed overnight,” it stated.

“The search and recovery for further fatalities continues.

“Eight persons were transferred to hospital for medical attention yesterday.”
