Storm Eunice's weather warning has been upgraded to red – the highest level – for parts of the UK for Friday, February 18.
That means there is a danger to life from flying debris.
The warning has been issued along the coastline of Devon and Cornwall as well as the south coast of Wales as extremely strong winds are predicted.
A "stay indoors" alert was already in place as Storm Eunice approaches on Friday, with stronger winds than Storm Dudley, heavy snow and blizzard conditions predicted in certain areas of the country.
The Met Office is also warning of more outages and travel chaos on the roads and train lines across most of England.
