A stunning teaching assistant has been charged with having sex with a student at a school she worked in the United States.

Ana Leigh D'Ettorre, 24, is said to have been involved with a student in Lakota Local Schools, with the 24-year-old arraigned and taken to Butler County Jail for a period before her trial.

The Louisville-based student teacher was indicted on one count of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a fourth-degree felony and 11 counts of disseminating matter harmful to juveniles.

Court documents showed the list of charges levelled at D'Ettorre, who is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing on January 10 next year.

D'Ettorre's alleged crimes took place between May 21 and August 30 of this year, reportedly involving a teenager between the ages of 13 and 16.

During her period at Liberty Junior School, the 24-year-old had been a student teacher during the second semester of the 2021-22 school year.

D'Ettorre, who is also alleged to have sent nude photos to the student, was a university student at the time of her student teaching position.

Prosecution for the case said: "We know it was somewhere within the city limits of Monroe, but we were never able to pinpoint where – sounded like it was during travel in a car."

Education district spokesman Betsy Fuller said: "We are incredibly disappointed that such serious charges have been brought upon a student teacher who spent time with our students.

"After the start of the current school year, we were notified that an investigation involving Ms. D’Ettorre was taking place and fully cooperated with law enforcement.

"Ms. D’Ettorre was a student teacher in one of our schools whose last day at Lakota was May 4, 2022. The alleged incident took place later that month.

"It is imperative that our students feel safe in our schools, which is why we ask them, or their parents, to immediately report any concerns directly to an administrator."
