Teachers and schoolkids injured as knifeman goes on rampage through nursery

Several nursery-age school children and teachers have been wounded after a man allegedly broke into a kindergarten and unleashed a knife attack, it has been reported.

Police were called to a kindergarten in Yulin, Guangxi, Beiliu City, China, on Wednesday April 28 to reports of an armed man inside a school.

It is understood the individual allegedly unleashed an attack on several teachers, and a group of students, whose current condition is unknown.

According to local media, several other people were injured in the alleged attack.

Officers are said to have managed to disarm the individual and immediately arrested him, it has been reported.

The man is now being held in custody at Xinfeng police station.

Footage from the scene shows bystanders watching on as a man, who is wearing a purple and yellow top with black trousers, is dragged through the street.

The individual is then marched toward a police vehicle, with his head down and arms restrained by police.

Officers can be seen wearing helmets, but do not appear to be armed.

In an earlier clip, a discarded jacket can be seen on the floor outside a building, understood to be the nursery.

Some local media have reported that the individual had mental health problems, although this has not been confirmed by authorities.

Whirlpool said: "The man has been arrested and has mental problems."
