A teacher's home sex romps with a 17-year-old student have been halted after her husband told the police about suspicions he had.
Rebecca Kilps, 34, was arrested on three counts of sexual assault of a child after news of the apparent illicit relationship emerged possibly from a marital rift in Wisconsin, USA.
Local news channel WBAY reports that on Tuesday (May 24), a detective looking after the case received a call from Kilps' husband who claimed he had suspicions and checked his wife's phone while she was sleeping.
He claimed to have found messages between Kilps and the student in which the two were “talking about a future together and saying they love each other.”
It is said that he then confronted his wife which apparently admitted it was a student and they had been friends before they started saying “I love you” and “talking sexually.”
The student was quizzed by cops who is said to have told them things went “too far” and things “went bad.”
Police claim he detailed how he was in her Spanish class in his first year of High School and continued to take her classes through the years.
While in his junior year (UK Year 12), he would start going to her classroom after school and hanging out, and they also started private messaging each other.
He revealed that in March, things “escalated and we talked more and said what we shouldn’t have."
The victim said they had sex twice at Kilps’ home.
When speaking to detectives, the teacher said she realised in October last year that the student “meant more than a student should to her but she kept it to herself.”
During the interview, she admitted to having sex with the victim twice and that it happened when her husband was not at home.
She added that she hoped that after the teenager graduated she would end her relationship with her husband.
“Rebecca said she knew the sexual contact with [victim] was illegal due to his age,” reads the complaint.

School officials and police don't think any other students were involved with the teacher sexually.
Diane Johnson, the district administrator for Two Rivers Public School, told WBAY that Kilps was immediately placed on administrative leave once the school learned about the allegations and that she has since resigned from her position.
Johnson's statement read: “The most important work of a school district is to protect the safety and well-being of our students.
"When an allegation of this nature is reported, we take prompt action to protect our students.
"There are no circumstances in which an inappropriate relationship is acceptable and the district will not tolerate conduct that adversely affects the safety and security of our students.”
Kilps was released from custody on a $10,000 (£7,900) bond and is scheduled to appear in court again next Tuesday (May 31).
