Ukrainian UK embassy site down to stop Brits joining forces in cyber attack

Brave Britons seeking to join up with the Ukrainian armed forces have had their attempts frustrated by the crashing of Ukraine's embassy site.

Yesterday (February 27), President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on people across the world to volunteer to defend Ukrainian sovereignty against Russian invaders stating it would "be the key evidence of your support for our country."

As a result, interest in joining up to fight the Russians rose dramatically despite no country currently officially advising its citizens to join.

However, those looking to find out more information about joining up will be frustrated as the internet currently says the site "can't be reached."

The sudden disappearance of the website from UK servers has been seen by some as evidence of cyber warfare although the official cause is not yet known.

Home Secretary Priti Patel had previously warned that Western governments should expect to see more "cyber attacks" as the conflict developed.

Asked on the BBC's Sunday Morning programme if she would support UK citizens who chose to answer the call, Foreign Secretary Liz Truss said: "That is something people can make their own decisions about.

"The people of Ukraine are fighting for freedom and democracy, not just for Ukraine but for the whole of Europe.

"Absolutely, if people want to support that struggle I would support them in doing that."

And despite the website being down, some Brave Brits have already answered the call and arrived at the embassy building in London to register their interest in signing up.

Today (February 28) Sky News cameras documented the reasons why some people wanted to sign up.

One courageous would-be soldier said he was willing to fight for the country despite not knowing what forces he'd be joining.
