Wounded Boris Johnson appeared “very tired” and full of “self-doubt” as he faced an intense grilling from Sir Keir Starmer at Prime Minister’s Questions earlier today.
The PM was seen avoiding eye contact, playing with a pen and stuttering as politicians from both parties slammed his decision to promote pal Chris Pincher to deputy chief whip despite allegations of inappropriate behaviour.
Waves of further resignations from ministers followed chancellor Rishi Sunak and health secretary Sajid Javid quitting their high-profile roles yesterday (Tuesday, July 5).

Body language expert and ex-cop Darren Stanton analysed the struggling Tory leader’s unconvincing PMQs display for website Slingo and claimed he was “uneasy” and “trying to reassure himself”.
He said: “While Boris was trying to appear robust, resolute and confident, it’s clear he is a very tired man and he knows it.
“We saw his self-doubt leak through as he portrayed a different side to him, as he didn’t display his usual facial expressions of happiness and enjoyment at having good-natured banter with the opposition.
“Instead of his usual animated behaviour, Boris displayed a dramatic and visible shift in emotion – possibly signalling the end is nigh.”
The scandal-hit PM is no stranger to controversy and previously rode out damning criticism over Partygate, Barnard Castle, insanely expensive wallpaper, and other controversies during his time in Number 10.

But Stanton reckons it could soon all be over for Mr Johnson and added: “Boris was a far cry from his usual character when listening to Starmer and the other questions.
“Usually he’d sit there laughing, joking and bumbling with the rest of the front bench, but today he was sat with a grimace across his face, as was most of the front bench.
“Boris tried to look like it’s business as usual, however, he appeared uneasy – for instance we saw him playing with his pen, taking it out of his jacket pocket and placing it back in again, a move he makes when trying to reassure himself.”
