A porn star has sparked outrage after appearing in an Iranian music video after the clip swept across social media.

Adult film actress Alexis Texas was part of the new music video for California-based Iranian pop star Sasy, called Tehran-Tokyo.

The video is set to be released next Wednesday, but the teaser in which Texas makes an appearance was published by the Iranian application Rubika.

In the footage, Texas wears a coat and headscarf, Iranian style, and then strips them to show a revealing costume.

The 35-year-old star is one of American's most popular porn performers and has 3.8 million Instagram followers.

SATRA (the Iranian AudioVisual Media Regulatory Authority), banned the video clip earlier this week and sued Rubika for publishing it online.

They claim as the video features a porn actress it violates the rights of children.

It has also received a backlash online by critics, who have been left angered, according to a report by Iran International TV.

The clip does not include nudity or explicit sex, but SATRA argues Sasy's popularity among teenagers would lead them to search out the work of the new face in the video.

Iran International TV notes pornography is readily accessed as nearly everyone in Iran, use VPNs and anti-filtering software to access websites blocked by authorities.

Iranian journalist and writer Emily Amraee said: “A shiver runs through my back when I think children will find out [Alexis Texas] is a porn star and start searching for her [on the internet]."

She added: “Because of [the state filtering] all of them have access to anti-filtering software and parenting control software are not available here…This song is really more dangerous than polio.”

But Sasy's followers have supported the singer, and sending clips on social media of them and their children dancing and lip-syncing to the song.

The teaser, which has been watched 6.5 million times on his Instagram alone, will encourage a push for stricter internet restrictions, wrote the moderate Asre-Iran news website.

Sasan Heidari-Yafteh, 33, who goes by the stage name Sasy, has been a controversial figure in the Iranian pop and rap music scene for more than 10 years.

He was arrested for 'disrupting the peace' after dancing and performing at a shopping centre in Kish Island in 2010.

He also supported Mehdi Karroubi's bid for presidency in the year prior, and made a campaign song.
