A bobcat picked up on a Nest Cam in Louisville. Notice the white color underneath its tail?
The tail of a bobcat will be white underneath whereas the tail of a lynx will look like it has been dipped in a bottle of black ink.

Louisville resident Craig D’Andrea was alerted by his outdoor camera to a fleeting drop-in by an unusual neighborhood visitor early Thursday.
Caught on camera, pausing to take in the sights while sauntering across D’Andrea’s back deck, was a bobcat.
D’Andrea, who lives near the Louisville Reservoir and acknowledges occasional sightings of foxes and coyotes, said seeing a bobcat in his backyard is a first.
“It’s a beautiful creature, and I’ve never seen anything like it in the wild, so just to have one on my back porch was kind of mind-blowing,” D’Andrea said.
