Woman attacked by bouncers after being told she was too ugly to enter club

Two bouncers at a club in Manchester attacked a mum and took her mobile phone after barring her from a nightclub for "being too ugly".

Claire Sidebottom, 39, threatened to report the bouncers and began recording them as they laughed at her.

The doormen then grabbed her handbag strap and pulled her into a safety barrier, bundling her over.

When she dropped her £800 phone, she heard one of the men shout: "Grab it and run."

Christopher Cash, 33, admitted robbery, assault and possession of an offensive weapon and was ordered to pay Miss Sidebottom £1,000 compensation.

He has also been handed an 18-month community order and 120 hours' unpaid work.

After Christopher court hearing, the mum-of-one said: "I don't think he got enough."

"He was a doorman and was there to protect people, not to bully, assault and rob. I felt targeted and bullied and felt hurt because people were laughing with him."

Claire from Mossley, Manchester, added: "This man took my phone that had sentimental pictures of my baby that I can never get back. He took memories away from me."

The incident took place at Bar Rogue in Piccadilly Gardens, Manchester, the city's Minshull Street Crown Court heard.

Christopher has since quit his job and the other doorman had died unexpectedly before he could be charged.

Sentencing the judge, Mr Recorder Daniel Prowse told Christopher: "You were working with a colleague when Miss Sidebottom was refused entry to the bar as she was told she was too drunk. She recalls being told she was too ugly to be let in."

The court heard police who investigated the incident found Christopher, of Edgeley, Stockport, in possession of two kubotans – a martial arts weapon.
