A woman has embarked on a “long road of recovery” after waking up from an induced coma following a horror car crash. Georgina Coventry was left with devastating injuries after she was involved in an accident, and while she has woken up, she requires care from medical specialists. Ms Coventry’s loved ones have organised a fundraiser to help cover expenses for their “strongest and most amazing friend”, and well-wishers have donated tens of thousands to aid her recovery.
The GoFundMe recovery fund organised by Flynn Cameron said she woke up at Royal Adelaide Hospital following a “horrific car accident”.
She is now under the care of the hospital’s trauma, ophthalmology, neurology, spinal and plastics specialists.
Her fundraisers had asked for $AUD5,000 (£2,760.87) to “help her get back on her feet” and cover her medical costs.
But generous donors have nearly trebled this goal.
As of March 17, they have raised $AUD14,905 (£8,230.16), with 221 total donations.
She has received messages of support from some donors, with one calling her a “one-of-a-kind” woman.
Another sent the recovering car crash survivor “thoughts & healing vibes” with thoughts for her family.
A recent update posted to the GoFundMe page has reported that Ms Coventry is recovering well.
Mr Cameron thanked donors for “sharing and donating for Georgie”, adding he was “just blown away at the love and generosity”.
He added that Ms Coventry was “progressing slowly” and has received another round of “facial Plastic surgery”.
While “significant concerns remain” around her left eye, she is in “good spirits” and has welcomed the support.
Mr Cameron said she is “so very grateful for the amazing support and messages”, adding: “George can feel the love being sent her way.”

Ms Coventry studied Naturopathy at Endeavour College of Natural Health and enjoyed an active life before her crash.
She was a keen traveller, with pictures on her social media showing her enjoying trips to far-flung destinations.
Photos show her in New Zealand, Vietnam, Thailand and Central America, and her latest journey was to a snow resort in Japan.
