The former Labour leader was asked at least 15 times if Hamas is a terror group on the TalkTV show Piers Morgan Uncensored.
But he repeatedly refused to give a straight answer during the clash on Monday night.
Yesterday Mr Cleverly said: “As Home Secretary, I can confirm that Hamas are a terror group.”
Shadow Foreign Secretary David Lammy expressed his “shock that not every member of this house can say Hamas are terrorists” in the Commons.
During the interview, Mr Morgan attempted to pin down Mr Corbyn, who is now an independent MP, on whether Hamas is a terror group and should stay in power in Gaza.

The veteran left-winger, who was embroiled in a major anti-Semitism row when he was Labour leader, would not give a yes or no answer.
Towards the end of the 18-minute exchange, the host said: “I’ve asked you two questions – should Hamas stay in power and are they a terror group? You’re refusing to answer either of them, that is very telling. And you wonder why people think you had a problem with Jewish people.”
An angry Mr Corbyn replied: “What is very telling is your inability to keep quiet for 30 seconds to allow anybody to answer a question.
“Why can’t you also ask something about the behaviour of the Israeli army and the Israeli government?
“Why can’t you have a discussion about how a ceasefire would come about or have a discussion about a process for the future which brings about peace for everybody?”

Mr Corbyn appeared with former Unite general secretary Len McCluskey – who stated Hamas is a terror group and should not remain in charge – to promote their new poetry book.
Afterwards Mr Morgan, who has been criticised for repeatedly asking guests to condemn Hamas but not Israeli bombing, called Mr Corbyn’s stance “staggering”. It comes as Sir Keir Starmer faces a row over his refusal to back a Gaza ceasefire.
